The Magical Girl genre has a lot of crossover with other art genres and movements for example fairy tales, mecha, surrealism and romanticism and a wide variety of commentary on social movements. What characteristics of the genre do you think lends itself to being so flexible in its story style and overall message? In the same vein are there any obstacles within the genre that creators have to overcome?
