“Starsend” is the third of three short comics in a collection of positive and uplifting genderqueer comics that will be available for purchase in September.
Starsend is focused on an agender character coming to terms with their identity on Earth. Shout out to sinistraal who helped me formulate the initial concept behind Starsend.
Summary: Nate is a vampire. Sort of. One day he wakes up in a cell with two vampire Hunters. They all have been imprisoned by the Brotherhood, a vampire criminal organisation, and they have to find a way to work together in order to escape.
But I’m a Cat Person (Site) (Smackjeeves) (Warning: Abuse, Body Horror, Death, Homophobia, Mental Illness, Transphobia, and Violence)
Summary: Millennials with shapeshifting battle monsters. They (the monsters, not the millennials) are immortals who bond with human Masters for the span of that human’s life – except the Dog, who ran away and was taken in by a couple of underemployed queer twentysomethings. Now they have to figure out the battle system, protect their new pet/friend from shadowy pursuers, and find someplace that’s hiring full-time.
Capybara ( @capybarathecomic) (Smackjeeves) (Warning: Alcohol, Blood/Gore, Drug Use, NSFW, Sexual Nudity, and Violence)
Summary: Mutinies are illegal on Haasvian vessels; it’s been that way for centuries. So, when a Haasvian crew kill their power-hungry captain and leave his body to the mercy of deep space, they only have one option: become pirates.
Summary: Atlas Day is a queer teen with a traumatic past who finally has a good handle on things in his final year of highschool. Things never go as planned, however, as strange and supernatural events start to happen around his best friend, Cello Tchaikovsky. Who are these strange, caped villains? And what do they want with Cell?
Damsels Don’t Wear Glasses (Spider Forest) (Smackjeeves) (Warning: Blood/Gore, Body Horror, and Violence)
Summary: Life’s no cake walk in Persephone, but Lave Faraday has it worse than most. In a city where the undead are part of the night life and supernatural is the norm, Lave is expected to help keep the peace in this impossible city — or do hard jail time for past crimes. But when you have Mafia vampires, necromancer frat boys, and zombie booze drinkers prowling the streets, one can’t help but feel like a glorified paranormal janitor. And Lave’s problems don’t exactly improve when she finds herself protecting a young boy from a sinister force, and making enemies in all the right places.
The Ecadian Chronicles ( @ecadia) (Site) (Facebook) (Warning:Abuse, Alcohol, Attempted Suicide, Blood/Gore, Drug Use, Rape/Sexual Assault, and Sexual Nudity)
Summary: Todd Greyson, a 14-year-old lover of ghosts and all things spooky, is about to embark on his dream trip: a visit to the famous Halloween Carnival! Todd’s hopes are shattered when he finds his brother has fallen ill on the morning of departure, but his feelings of despair quickly change with a visit from a frighteningly real ghost on Halloween night. The ghost offers a once in a lifetime chance to board a spectacular spirit train and travel to other worlds- beginning an adventure that is far more than he bargained for.
Summary: Trigger Elliot is a bounty hunter who travels around the galaxy with his not-so-fully-licensed-and-technically-illegal-hunting-partner Vahn Gavotte. They’re lousy at what they do and often resort to petty tactics just to get their bounty, This is their life.Their home planet, June7, is a world rebuilding itself from an inexplicable catastrophic phenomenon that destroyed 75% of the planet’s surface. It has been 5 years since the destruction of June7 and the planet now thrives on the transient and growing population of bounty hunters. Trigger and Vahn’s routine changes when an ambiguous huge bounty surfaces; an alleged bounty hunter killer named the “ghost” with frightening abilities and unknown motive. When Trigger’s past catches up with him, there begins a strain on him and Vahn’s hunting dynamic, forcing them to become further involved in chasing the elusive and unpredictable ghost.
Summary: Deep within Nairobi, a plot to drain the people of their uniqueness and aspirations is underway. The only ones who can truly stop them are a group of young people known as the Spectrum of Hope.
Parhelion ( @parhelioncomic) (Site) (Warning: Alcohol, Blood/Gore, Death, and Violence)
Summary:
A queer space poli-sci-fi saga, Parhelion follows a failed diplomat and wannabe pirate on an odyssey across the galaxy to save a world from being annexed by a warlord. Meanwhile, corporations, bureaucrats, and civilians launch schemes of their own, or just try to get by.
Written by Ve’Amber D. Miller (Twitter) and Art by Asia Dye (Instagram)
Summary: Nine very different people find themselves recruited by the gods to learn how to fight for various causes. However, as things progress, they find that they were drawn together not simply because of their ambitions, but because of their past lives that connect them all.

River City ( @rivercitycomic) (Site) (Tapas) (Twitter) (Warning: Abuse, Drug Use, Homphobia, Mental Illness, Suicide Mention and Violence)
Summary: River City is a comic about coping with trauma and mental issues is never easy, especially in an unforgiving world. It doesn’t help that this semi-futuristic city is rife with political corruption, and supernatural abilities are as common as artistic talent. Three unlikely friends–Crawford, Dane, and Jackie–must overcome their own struggles to combat everything from homicidal psychopaths to the city’s most powerful crime lords while still getting to work on time. They will uncover secrets about themselves, their city, and the nature of the powers themselves. Who among them will discover they’ve had powers all along?
Summary: Lucas Wen prides himself on being the most practical and realistic person you’ll ever meet. Which is why it’s a bit of a shock when he finds out not only that his cousin Robin is a witch, but he’s just taken a job in the most supernaturally saturated neighborhood in New York City.
Meanwhile, Roe, a young woman with a suitcase full of odd weapons and perhaps a few too many secrets, thinks things are finally going her way again when she finds a place to live other than her cousin’s couch in the form of Robin’s spare room.
Before either of them can get both feet under them again, the sudden disappearance of Robin’s girlfriend, Penelope, shakes them all. Lucas, despite his best attempts to adjust to his new fantastical reality, finds that there’s really only so much that even the most practical mind can take, and Roe fears whether their new troubles are something that followed her to the ‘Quarter, or were already there.
The Sanity Circus (Hiveworks) (Warning:

Overgrown, my major project webcomic I’ve been working on most of this year can be read at:
overgrowncomic.com!
It’s a short comic about a girl who gets trapped in a faery realm and has to complete three tasks to escape. An exploration of webcomics and utilising html/css/javascript etc to enhance the storytelling and make it more interactive. It should take 5-10 minutes to read, works best on mobile (portrait) or medium desktop screen.
Also contains: queer characters (aro lesbian, wlw), friendship themes, faeries, pretty forests, and other good stuff
Note: all pages have a timer reset to send them back to the home page, and the external links on the about page are disabled because of graduate exhibition this is currently being displayed at (ends nov 17)

CLASSICAL ELEMENTS is our
topic for the Object Head Zine 2022 edition! Move oceans and mountains, conquer flame and wind, and bend the elements to your whim! ALL
submissions will be accepted so long as they follow the guidelines
below. Each person has a limit of up to 3 submissions. This will be a
DIGITAL ZINE ONLY and will be available free upon completion (donation
optional). The guidelines are as follow:
Illustration-quality
works in either digital or traditional mediums. Both colour and b/w
acceptable; background required. *BG can be as simple as a pattern or
colour block! Avoid utilizing a camera to submit your images, please use
a scanner.
The default size will be 6″x9″, 300 dpi
(1800px x 2700px) but feel free to go larger or smaller, so long as it
follows those proportions, within reason. Please work in a vertical
format.
For consistency’s sake, keep faces to a minimum
(You can have eye(s) or you can have mouth(s) but don’t have both in a
humanoid arrangement.
Please
go for original characters (or fanart of your friend’s characters) and
not so much established classical elemental object heads.
If
you want to include humans, that’s fine as well but keep the ratio of
people to object heads 1:1. Same goes for non-elemental object heads. If you want to include both non-elemental
and humans in your image, make sure the majority goes to elemental object heads!
You’re free to pick an element that doesn’t adhere to the “Grecian” notion of classical elements: metal, aether, void, lightning, etc. However, try to stick to the alchemical idea of the elements and not so much the periodic table of elements. You may have periodic table elements so long as you have classical elements as well (see note above).
Containers for said elements are allowed (pitcher of water, torch for a flame, etc), provided that the element is the main focus (pitcher should show majority water, the torch must be aflame). Please have the containers make sense for the context, (A TV head with plants growing in it does NOT count.)
Content should be at most PG-13: Romance is
fine but after hours business should not be implied, Blood is fine but
no gore. In the end, use your common sense.
Feel free to draw a comic or just an illustration! A comic counts as one submission.
Note
that if a submission does not meet the above guidelines, I will either
reject your submission or suggest improvements that would help your
piece fulfill them. Please email me at objectheadzine(@)hotmail(.)com if
you have any further questions and I’ll do my best to reply promptly.
If you do not receive a message from me within a few days, please send
it again. We’re also available on twitter. Join us as well on the official Object Head Zine discord chat! Click here to be invited into the chat.
Final pieces submitted should be either in PNG or a one layer PSD file format. Also send in your email/website/name you’d like to be credited as.
(Feel free to omit emails if that is more comfortable). When you’ve
finished your piece(s), you are allowed to post them to your blogs as
long as you link back to the zine blog!
