You might have noticed I’m barely active on here aside from the occasionally art dump. If you’re moving off tumblr here’s my other socials you can find me at:
Griefer Belt is back from Hiatus!! If you’re cool with nsfw/gore, and have an interest in criminal stories, you should definitely give this comic a go! Kale (the artist) is my flatmate and I’m super keen for this chapter!!
Summary:
Scott works for The Belt, a black market company that deals in harvesting and trading human organs. His boss and partner (in crime), Lars Van Allen is heir to the organization but lacks certain abilities to properly run a business.
Librarian’s Commentary:
Dark plot with more light hearted characters makes for a wonderful mood overall
Lars has great hair and wonderful fashion taste. Not surprising for a mob boss but still an appreciated detail~
Oh yay nonbinary twins! Makes me wonder how they would get along with Dee and Dum from Alice and the Nightmare.
Addie and Jemma’s relationship is so cute I can’t wait to see how it develops over the time of the comic!
Summary:
Acethexis is an action/drama series about a girl and an illegal android who are swept up into a life of crime in the eyes of their government.
Librarian’s Commentary:
The art is beautiful! I love the soft and vibrant colors and and clothes and character design!
Oh Agender main character! Love seeing non-cis mains. Especially ones that might present closer to a feminine or masculine. As a feminine presenting genderfluid this makes my heart soar! Also their hair looks like cotton candy I wanna touch~
Oh so much mystery. I’m gonna love watching Lena’s backstory unfold. Why was she created? Who was murdered to get her to this point? What is her next step?
Of course I can’t leave out Kotone! I love how she’s the voice of reason and reality in this case. I wonder how she’ll be developed in this comic! Definitely keeping my eye out on this one!
The Well by the House on the Hill (Site) (Smack Jeeves) (Warning: death)
The Well by the House on the Hill is about a young girl named Marie who loves umbrellas very much and who was hired to babysit some children in a house.
If you’ve read past the prologue:
The Well by the House on the Hill is about a couple of ghosts trying to move on. Whatever that entails!
Librarian’s Commentary:
I love that both Mari and Cody can have different expectations of what will happen once they are able to move on and both are valid!
Mari’s kindness even in death brings warmth to my heart.
The story overall sent me on a emotional roller coaster that was a fun ride never the less!
I like the possibility that the ending left, both making me curious and wanting more of the comic while also being satisfied and happy. Overall an awesome read~
Summary:
Five teenage girls with stereotypically western superpowers unite to form a magical girl group. This is their origin story.
Librarian’s Commentary:
Magical girl stories that make fun of magical girl tropes in the process give me life. This comic gives me life.
I really appriciate the fact that much of the comic is them figuring out all the minor points of becoming a team (what will they be fighting, what will they call themselves, costumes, rolls, etc.). Seeing a team become a team and not have themselves really thrust into a roll but instead making a role for themselves is a different perspective that is so satisfying to see!
Ageha and Ryuko’s relationship is both odd and yet somehow understandable and relatable.
Miwa is a gem that needs to be protected at all costs.
Summary: Long-lost childhood crushes Nova Huang and Tam Lang have reunited for the first time in ten years. They have a lot more to deal with this time than just being the only two Asian kids in school (who also happen to both have magical abilities). The comic focuses on their relationship as they struggle through bills, family, and weird horse demons in ways that only a witch and a werewolf can.
Librarian’s Commentary:
Nova works in a Witch library?? That’s just a really cool thing to me, like, libraries are already cool and now you got a library filled with legit magic? Amazing
Heck yeah nonbinary werewolf! Two of my favorite things wrapped into one it’s so cool.
Also Nova having hearing loss and speciallizing in nonverbal spellcasting and overall being a badass? I love!
Overall cool comic with a lot of cool concepts and possible world building that just makes me exited!
Summary:
The Myth of Cinnabar is a webcomic about a girl embarking on a world saving quest, as all 14 year olds do. Join her as she meets new friends, new enemies and new frienemies!
Librarian’s Commentary:
Art style reminds me a lot of Cucumber Quest. Very colorful, expressive, and bubbly!
I’m getting the feeling I’m going to love watch the wold building! I love worlds that have a lot of lore around colors and it seems like this will definitely be one of them!
Cinnabar is such a cutie even though she can sometimes become one track minded. But she’s learning and it will be a fun to watch her develop as both a friend and adventurer!
Summary: A witch is involuntarily forced to help a prince break a curse- a curse a fellow witch set upon him. These complete opposites will have to set aside their differences to reach a common goal, and maybe gain each other’s trust on the way.
Librarian’s Commentary:
This definitely talks a lot about genocide and prejudice. This is not a bad thing, it’s an important topic that can be applied in more ways than one, I’m just very interested in how this topic will be developed over the plot!
I can’t help wondering why was Agate such an important thing that Ephraim risked his life to get it? What is it used for?
He has a birb friend!! 11/10 great birb would pat if it would let me
ftw you think of a peep as brutal and he turns out to be a science nerd? That’s Alexander. I’m definately gonna love watching his feelings toward his duty of being king change. I wonder how he’s gonna react when he learns about what is happening to witches?
Summary:
Calisto is a university student who struggles with the idea of happiness, and needs to understand what love really means.
Oh yay coffee shop! I would say coffee shop AU but this is defiantely not that considering to my knowledge it’s an original comic but I can’t help thinking that.
Ah the all too familiar feel of parents not respecting what you want to do with your life. Both relatable and tragic. I hope he punches those expectations in the face!
Keneko’s hair color is hair goals for me I wanna ruffle it!
I love how complex the relationships between characters are, especially when it comes to sex. when characters have had sex so far they all seem to be very aware that they have sex with others and respect and enjoy it. It’s shown in such a positive light and I hope this view is kept throughout the comic!
Summary: That Squib, bitter at the rejection of her magical kin, went on to pen a seven book expose that revealed the world of wizards to the non-magical folk they had historically feared. This is a comic that explores Harry Potter without Harry Potter. The Boy Who Lived is a fictional creation of that Squib, but the world he discovered in his stories is real, and is panicking at the mass publication of their secrets.
Librarian’s Commentary:
I love the concept of this overall. Harry Potter is such a iconic universe and it will be an amazing journey to learn about it through the eyes of another!
I kinda wonder if there will be a short chapter or flashback going through what happened to “the Squib” who started Harry Potter. I hope that gets covered in the series!
Aw the girl at the beginning is so cute. I love her enthusiasm for the series even though almost everyone seems to condone it to some degree. I wonder what happened to her after the end of the prelude? I hope we get to see that too!
Overall it has so many references to the Harry Potter series and the possibility for so much more! I can’t wait to see what this world is like!
Summary:
Our story centers around Elliot, a delinquent indie rock musician who gets caught up in the world of vigilantism through an unexpectedly stupid accident.
Librarian’s Commentary:
Canon Austic and ADHD characters bonding over stimming is something I didn’t know I needed but now I have it and I love it!
If you’re the type of person who will choose their Pokemon starter based on how cute/cool they look, you will relate to this comic.
This comic is kinda sorta wanna make a bingo of sexualities, genders, and different types of relationships because I was having to update the LGBT page like every chapter it was g r e a t. Kinda wish they were listed on the character sheet page but learning through the comic itself is part of the fun!
This comic is very quotable. My favorite quote so far is “He’s super hot but at what cost? AT WHAT COST!?” Also very reaction image worthy. just a very worthy comic in general 10/10
