Hiya peeps! Today the Webcomic Library and the Aradia collective are collaborating on a reader discussion on Magical Girls! We’ll be working together to post one question a day over the week over Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram for yall to chime in on!

As of December 31st, 2020 Smackjeeves has closed. The site was a major pillar of webcomic culture, being one of the first webcomic specific sites out there and still pretty popular before it updated last year and caused a mass exodus from the site. The loss of this site is a tragedy with the variation of hosting sites slimming and the loss of many comics exclusive to the site.

I love creating spaces for folks to get involved in this amazing community and this is a step I’m super excited to take. Hiya peeps! I haven’t made a personal post on here for a while but the past week the library has hit over 1500 comics archived! I’ve been working super hard to add new tags, categories, and expand the library’s scope to include print and download comics!
I want to get back to constructing masterposts and other things for yall in the future but for now I have been more than happy to keep working to make the webcomic library the best it can be. I have a lot of ideas for where I’d like to take the library and I hope you all will stick around for the ride!

Three unlikely friends–Crawford, Dane, and Jackie–must overcome their own struggles to combat everything from homicidal psychopaths to the city’s most powerful crime lords while still getting to work on time. They will uncover secrets about themselves, their city, and the nature of the powers themselves. Who among them will discover they’ve had powers all along?
Summary: Lucas Wen prides himself on being the most practical and realistic person you’ll ever meet. Which is why it’s a bit of a shock when he finds out not only that his cousin Robin is a witch, but he’s just taken a job in the most supernaturally saturated neighborhood in New York City.
Meanwhile, Roe, a young woman with a suitcase full of odd weapons and perhaps a few too many secrets, thinks things are finally going her way again when she finds a place to live other than her cousin’s couch in the form of Robin’s spare room.
Before either of them can get both feet under them again, the sudden disappearance of Robin’s girlfriend, Penelope, shakes them all. Summary: Princess Reaper is a story about Moira, the new and eager grim reaper of her world (who happens to also be a princess). She believes she is doing humankind the greatest service imaginable, being their gateway into the afterlife. And as the grim reaper, she is about to be opened up to new worlds, wonders, and secrets.
In every other chapter, a parallel story takes place in the land of the living, starring Arwan, a prince heralding from the noble kingdom of Halcyrene. His people have been butting heads with a neighboring kingdom called Fierax almost to the brink of war. Negotiations towards a peaceful pact have been agreed upon and diplomats are expected to visit Halcyrene very soon.

Summary: Ripple Fx is a serialization of a graphic novel in progress. It follows four people (a journalist, a hacker, a park ranger, and a detective) who are trying to uncover who is behind a series of malfeasant acts.
Part 1 focuses on Journo, a Black journalist who is investigating reports of people (including the country’s government officials) being smuggled out of a Sierra Leone Ebola quarantine zone. Summary: In Ark Hana, signa rule the streets after nightfall, but aren’t afraid to puff their chests in daylight, either. After a quick dance with death, Nicholas Morello finds himself in the arms of Leo Rothstein, who not only saves his life, but intends to stick around for the long haul. Becoming friends and eventual lovers, Nick and Leo discover more about each other than they know about themselves. The two are forced to cease contact when Nick is arrested on account of murder.
Nero, ruler over Ark Hana and Commander in Chief of Nightingale, the organization created to fight signa, offers Nick a job with him in exchange for his death sentence. No other way around it, Nick accepts, but when ready to confront Leo, discovers he’s disappeared.
Now burdened with newfound responsibility and power, Nick sets off with his appointed team to uncover clues about Leo’s whereabouts-discovering the Morello family’s sketchy past involving Nightingale along the way, and realizing Nick never was as normal as he strived to be.
