Hiya peeps! Welcome to day 4 of our reader discussion on magical girls in collaboration with Aradia! Todays Question:
Outside of Japan Magical Girl stories are often harder to come by in the international market. What reasons do you think this genre hasn’t entirely caught wind in other markets and do you think that could change in the future?
All the questions for this week have been posted to the Webcomic Library Discord as well. If you’re interested in joining in on the discussion in a more direct way or are interested in meeting and learning from more folks in the community feel free to dm me for an invite. We’d love to have you!
Hiya peeps! Welcome to day 3 of our reader discussion on magical girls in collaboration with Aradia! Todays Question:
While Magical girls are commonly seen as their own genre they also have a lot of similar characteristics with the Super Hero genre. What are some things that set these genres apart?

Hiya peeps! Welcome to day 2 of our reader discussion on magical girls in collaboration with Aradia! Todays Question:
The Magical Girl genre has a lot of crossover with other art genres and movements for example fairy tales, mecha, surrealism and romanticism and a wide variety of commentary on social movements. What characteristics of the genre do you think lends itself to being so flexible in its story style and overall message? In the same vein are there any obstacles within the genre that creators have to overcome?

Hiya peeps! Today I got come new tags sorted out! First I added a new “contemporary” tag for all of your modern desires. Second I took the “Historical Fantasy” and “Historical Fiction” tags and combined them into one “Historical” tag. I’m hoping this will be good additions to our tag lineup to help you find the stories you’re craving!

We also recently hit 100 followers on Tagpacker! I’m super happy people have been wanting to follow along with what new content is being added to the library and possibly be inspired to start their own collections!
Adding and updating content takes a lot of time but it is truly a labor of love. It brings me so much joy to look over all of these stories so fondly and know that this helps people find comics that will fill them with wonder and excitement. I always have so much more I want to do but I’m proud of what I’ve managed to accomplish here with all of you!

Hiya! First of all I wanted to give a huge thank you to you peeps! Over the past week I’ve seen more folks following this tumblr and interaction with the Webcomic Library database than I’ve seen since I put this project out to the public over 4 years ago. I’m blown away by all the love the library has been getting!
With all the new folks following I wanted to give a little update on what I’ve been up to. Back in January I finished my previous major project which was expanding the library to include print, subscription, and download exclusive comics. I actually started this project back in May 2020 but it took a while to enter in my full personal collection. With that integration done I’m hoping to continue adding more paywalled content to help promote those works and let readers know what they’re getting into before buying.
With all the support this project has been getting I’m itching to get working on the next major project on the horizon. Now folks who have been following my work for a while be familiar with my pervious masterpost series and know that I back away from doing them around this time last year. I’ve been missing them terribly but want to take my blog work a step upward. For the next step in the library I’m looking to make an independent blog space! I have a lot of ideas for what kind of content I want to bring to the table and I’m hoping you all will stick around to see the result!
This major project is currently slow going as I have other priorities in my personal life that need my attention and care but I’m hoping to get more things moving during the summer. In the meanwhile I’ve been regularly working in the background to add and update the Webcomic Library database. Currently I’m chipping away at an inventory of the “Genre” tag category. I have plans to edit and add a few tags during the process, including combining the “Historical Fantasy” and Historical Fiction” tags and adding a “Furry” tag so keep an eye out for that!
While I’m at it I also wanted to promote the Webcomic Library Discord! We’re approaching 300 members strong now and hold events regularly. This month we have the following events going on:
Comic Cafe Day: Fridays
March 8th-12th: Creator Workshop on Script and Thumbnailing Processes
March 22nd-26th: Reader Discussion on Magical Girls In partnership with the Aradia Collective
End of DTIYS Art Challenges!
We have plans to introduce some new, fun art challenges next month. We always have something interesting going on whether it be new art to interesting discussions about the webcomic community. If you’re interested in getting more involved with the community feel free to dm or email me for an invite.
Thank you all again for the support! I’ve been having so much fun reading and being a part of this amazing community and I hope I can continue helping bring readers and creators together!

As of December 31st, 2020 Smackjeeves has closed. The site was a major pillar of webcomic culture, being one of the first webcomic specific sites out there and still pretty popular before it updated last year and caused a mass exodus from the site. The loss of this site is a tragedy with the variation of hosting sites slimming and the loss of many comics exclusive to the site.
Hiya peeps! 2020 has certainly been a rollercoaster for a variety of reasons. It has certainly been a challenge however I feel very pleased with what the library has been able to accomplish this year! Over the course of this year we have…
Has expanded to include print, download, and subscription comics
Added 2 completely new tag categories to the library (”Available as…” and “Style and Format”) along with a number of new individual tags to sort through.
Made it to 74k views on Tagpacker with 76 followers
Opened a discord for readers and creators alike. We give spaces to talk shop, share art and stories, and meet other peeps in the community! You can dm me for an invite.
The Library has expanded a lot this year and so many doors have opened as well. I have so many ideas for where I want to take this project but some of the goals I want to pursue in 2021 are..
Making more original posts on social media. I took some steps back from consistent posting in 2020 in exchange for focusing on my expansion projects on the library database itself. I want to be more active again and engage with folks.
Create a Pillowfort group. I want to be more active on this site especially. I think I could make use of Pillowfort to further engage with the webcomic community and just generally have fun with it!
Work to promote and continue building the WCL Discord into an active and supportive space.
Open an independent site. If you have been following me a while you’ll know this has been on my bucket list for a while but now I have an idea of what kind of content I want to produce on such a platform and how I could do it successfully.
Interact with comic groups and publishers to add more comics to the library. I think I have a good platform now that can offer something unique to different groups. I do a lot of content work surrounding the Library on my own so having external help from larger groups would be a big plus!
Reach 2,000 webcomics in the Library.
Despite everything I think I was able to walk away with some things I could look fondly back on. For the first time since around the time I begun this project publicly 4 years ago I have a group of friends who I regularly talk to. They’re a group of people who I respect and admire and I feel the same energy back. I’ve come to realize the skills and work I’ve done has significant worth and perhaps one day soon I’ll be able to put these skills to use in a job that could actually support me financially.
In the next year I want to take some massive steps. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous but I’m also hopeful. 2020 has been far from the perfect year but I’m going to move forward with a desire to keep working towards making something I’m proud of. Thank you all for your support this year!

It’s a story about hockey and friendship and bros and trying to find yourself during the best 4 years of your life.

When a lucky accident leads her to two former chefs at Dimanche, she decides that she will do her utmost to track down each of their old colleagues in order to rediscover that “perfect taste”.
Summary: Alastair Sterling was the inventor who sparked the robot revolution. And because of his sudden death, he didn’t see any of it.
That is, until he wakes up 16 years later in a robot body that matches his old one exactly. Until he steps outside and finds a world utterly unlike the one he left behind – a world where robots live alongside their human neighbors and coexist in their cities. A world he helped create.
Now Al must track down his old partner Brendan to find out who is responsible for Al’s unexpected resurrection, but their reunion raises even more questions.
Like who the robot living with Brendan is. And why she looks like Al. And how much of the past should stay in the past…
